Founded in 2015, and incorporated in Canada in 2017 as a non-profit incorporation (Registration No.: 1046074-5), PTI also maintains an office in Aden, Yemen, as part of its cooperation agreement with the Yemen Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC) to operate in Yemen. Additionally, the Peace Track Initiative holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It has observer status under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
PTI works to amplify local voices and bridge global and grassroots efforts, ensuring that women and marginalized communities are recognized as key actors in shaping sustainable peace and justice. Through its innovative approaches, PTI promotes women’s participation in peace processes, strengthens local peace infrastructures, and fosters dialogue between civil society, decision-makers, and international actors.
The organization has pioneered the Feminist Peace Roadmap for Yemen, a transformative framework that integrates gender equality, transitional justice, and local governance into peacebuilding efforts. PTI also serves as the Secretariat of the Women Solidarity Network (WSN) and co-convenes the Men Allies for Feminist Peace Group, reinforcing its commitment to collective, intersectional approaches that challenge structural inequalities and promote gender-responsive policies.
By combining advocacy, research, and capacity-building, PTI continues to influence policy agendas, strengthen feminist leadership, and connect local realities to regional and global decision-making spaces, building a future where peace is just, inclusive, and lasting.
